It started as just another mod for the multiple award winning game "Half life", but then it became something bigger.

Half life is one of the most amazing games ever created. Though almost 5 years old, it still has a strong base because of the many total conversion modifications (or mods) created for it. Clearly, the greatest of them all is Counter-Strike.

Though it's main attribute was realism, that's not the main reason people play it. Counter-Strike basically has two teams, the terrorists and the counter-terrorists. Both have different objectives, and both have certain weapons that only they can purchase.

There are two things about Counter-Strike thataren't realistc, though. First is some of the weapons. No matter how small a bullet, you will die when shot in the face. Most of the time, when you get shot once or twice by a rifle or high powered gun, you will die. The human body in Counter-Strike(cs) is split into several zones, each will deal with a gun wound in a different way. Minimum damage will be delt if you are shot in the foot or hand. Even the most powerful gun cannot kill you with one shot to the hand. Next are the arms and legs, most guns can't kill you in one shot, but watch out for burst shots. Next comes the chest, many weapons will kill you in one shot if they hit your chest. Exceptions are if you wear body armor and it's a low powered gun(i.e. tmp or 5-7)*note that both of those are ct only*. Now the head, is a different story. You will take the most damage if you are hit in the head. My only grip about this is that it only takes away a higher number of health points, so you may be at 100hp, take a shot to the head, and if the game were really realistic, you would die instantly, no matter how small the bullet. The problem in CS is that the whole head is one zone, helmet and face. We all know that a kevlar helmet doesn't cover your face, but if you get shot in the face, you will still take the damage as if you had kevlar on. In my opinion (this is my website, i'll say what i wanna:0) the head should be split into two zones, top head and face. Top head has the option of buying a helmet to protect, and face is instant death no matter what.

My other gripe about Counter-Strike is they said that the weapons are modeled exaclty after real-world guns. Then I think about it, does the M249 really fire as slow as rizzuh(he's from csnation) walks or as innacurate as George W. Bush's English? The last time i checked, it had an effective area of several thousand meters, and one of the highest cyclic rates in any gun. Oh, and it also has a 200 round mag!!!!! And I'm sure the berretas hurt more than a spitball does, I can understand that they would not be as accurate, holding one in each hand, but they still use the same round as the mp5, same with the glock, it may suck accuracy-wise, but it uses a 9mm bullet, it's going to have the same stopping power of any 9mm gun. The problem with cs is that they base the amount of damage done based on the gun, when really, it all matters with the bullet. The gun can only determine the accuracy and cyclic rate, the cartrige itself has the amount of gunpowder and the bullet that actually does the damage.

Here is where i rant about the weapons...er herm, GUNS AND AMMO!
