| Half-Life has many mods, some known more than others, like Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Firearms, and Natural Selection. Half-Life has more than just those mods, though. One of the better mods that aren't set for retail is Tour of Duty. Tour of Duty is a multiplayer Class based firt-person-shooter based in Vietnam. There are consistantly two teams, the United States Marni Corps(USMC) and the North Vietnamese Army/Viet Cong (NVA/VC). Personally, I love this mod, it's my favorite one. It's very simple to get used to, and that's one really good thing going for it. It's simple enough to have a low learning curve, but it has a long way to go, if you wanna get really good at it. In other words, you can play the game, but there's plenty of room for mass improvement. Not only is this game simple, but it's incredibly fun. It shares the same method of respawning as Day of Defeat, respawning in waves, but you respawn more frequently. Because you spawn 3-5 seconds after you die, the game is very fast paced, and even a 12 person game can feel like a whole war. Another great thing about this mod is the the abundance of great servers, and the relatively mature level of players present. Also, there are enough clans to make them seem ever present, but not so many that make your head spin. Some of the better ones include 101st Airborne Divistion (this is the best clan in TOD...it is!) |
